The cover photo for roots reggae artist Yung JR’s EPK “Start the Movement” has been released. The EP set to be released in spring 2015 is the first for the upcoming artiste. Ababa Reid, the son of renowned reggae artiste Junior Reid has been familiar with music from an early age looking up to not only his father but other great artistes such as Hugh Mundel and Ini Kamoze. Yung JR gained recognition following the release of his first official single “Raggamuffin”. By the time his second single “General” was released Yung JR seemed to have gained a rather large fan base both locally and internationally.
Currently on tour on the west coast with U.S. Reggae band Natural Vibration, Yung JR also recently appeared on the popular reggae show, Rebel Salute. Produced by himself and brother Adoney Reid, the EPK is said to include productions from Adoney himself, Zinc Fence Records, Digital B Records, Flash Hit Records and Bassick Records.
When asked about his journey and the inspiration behind his “Start the Movement” EPK, Yung JR had this to say, “It’s a joyful yet humble feeling. The inspiration really came from my I and my brother regular reasoning where we saw the need to create a musical project and incorporate a practical aspect to it. We believe music should not just stop at recording and performing but really getting out there to give a helping hand where needed and participating in events that’s for the good of mankind.”

How is good music being created? That's the question, the documentary web series Studio Chronicles follows. In its 5 episodes for the moment, it paints a picture of Jamaican music production history and culture. To achieve this, the producers visited several studios in Kingston and talked to artists and producers about what makes a good production and which influence the chosen studio has on the final product.

The series offers insight into the daily work of producers, the historical development of recording technology, as well as different approaches to recording music in times of digitalisation. The producers want to draw attention to interesting hotspots in music history. Jamaica, with its rich musical heritage was the perfect choice for the pilot season considering the musical background of the producers. The two brothers Syrix and Professa (Iriepathie) met producers like Gussie Clarke, King Jammy, Don Corleone or Dean Fraser, who gave an insight into the specific qualities of the individual studios and tell stories from decades of experience as producers.

The first season has been shot in Kingston in December 2013 over a period of four weeks. The series will be accompanied by a producers album, which will be released on Irievibrations Records, and displays the soundtrack to the show. It contains the title track „The Journey“ by Konshens.

The OFFICIAL video for Stephen "Ragga" Marley's new track "Ghetto Boy" featuring Jamaican dancehall stars Bounty Killer and Cobra. Directed by Shaun Escayg and shot in Jamaica, Stephen's message aims to #BreakTheCycle and address gun violence with today's youth. "GHETTO BOY" will be featured on Stephen's upcoming album Revelation Part II: The Fruit Of Life, due later this year on his label Ghetto Youths International.
