Check out the brand new EP "Lifted" from Romain Virgo which debuted at the number three position behind Bob Marley on the iTunes reggae chart.
The 25-year-old Jamaican singer-songwriter Romain Virgo returns with a brand new EP Lifted on VP Records. Virgo unveils hope behind darkness on this concsious 8-song set filled with social commentary.
He holds strong with "God Inna Mi Corner" and weeds out fake friends on "Fade Away" featuring dancehall artist Assassin. While showcasing his dee-jay skills on the EDM-tinged reggae track "Badder Man," he reveals the gripping realities of a rudeboy and opts for a different way of life. "I don't mix up with da criminal dem, me a gwan stick to mi gal dem. I don't care who a buss this, who a buss that, me don't want no strap," as he sings in the song's closing lyrics.
To pay homage to his ladies, Virgo then offers a few ballads on his EP - including his latest romancer "Stars Across The Sky," his Sam Smith cover of "Stay With Me" (which recieved over 2.4 mil YouTube views for its accompanying visual) and " Soul Provider" (racking in nearly 4 mil YouTube video views). This will give listeners a feel of his 2016 album entitled Love Sick (VP Records), which is a heartfelt collection mostly comprised of love songs.
Lifted follows his critically acclaimed 2012 album The System, which was described as "striking" (Washington Post), "high-quality" (BBC) and "smooth and engaging" (New York Times). Billboard also proclaimed he has "empowering messages over misogynistic and violent lyrics, intricately textured one-drop rhythms instead of frenetic digital beats" and he has "found an appreciative, multi-generational audience."

"Criminal" is the fifth video from my third studio album Ancient Future, and it was important to me that it was presented as a lyric video. The lyrics are loaded with historical references and touches on some very serious issues in Jamaica's political landscape. In my opinion, it is one of the most important songs on Ancient Future! #Protoje

The two Caribbean artists merge soca, dancehall and reggae into a universal sound on this world cry anthem, produced by Philip "Jr. Blender" Meckseper. They go verse for verse addressing society's illls and Marley delivers a powerful hook aspiring for change. "There is music in your soul, minerals in your soil, children full of beauty worth way much more than oil. While history unfolds, don't let the good things spoil, oh no."
Bunji Garlin gives more insight behind the collaboration."We recorded this song at Gong's studio in Florida. It was a 4am studio session after we spent about an hour and a half just talking and getting a vibe off of each other's knowledge, views and energies. I appreciate the project and artist because we were able to let both our musical backgrounds work for us to execute this. It is almost a fable to see the son of reggae legend and also a legend in his own right and artist of the soca genre meld so effortlessly."
Marley is slated to perform in Garlin's homeland on October 30th, 2015 in Tobago at Pigeon Point (Colours Of Reggae) and October 31st, 2015 in Trinidad at Hasley Crawford Stadium (Reggae On The Bay Presents Hennessy Artistry).

Jah Cure has released his new studio album “The Cure” July 10, 2015, (VP Records). Recently hailed by NPR as “a voice that sounds as if he’s wringing out passion from every note” and once described by the Los Angeles Times as “a brilliant crooner of Bob Marley-esque love-and-peace reggae,” the Jamaican-born singer has long been recognized as one of the island’s greatest voices.
With his beguiling vocals and soulful conviction, Cure effortlessly blends street poetry and sufferer’s tales with beautiful love ballads into one cohesive collection. The 13-track set is a return to roots reggae and lover’s rock with R&B and pop-fused elements.
Jah Cure co-produced the entire album with the help of reggae producers like Christopher “Sketch” Carey, Clive Hunt, Llmar “Riff Raff” Brown, Justin “Jus Bus” Nation and Trevor “Baby G” Washington James.
“The Cure” features recent hits like his #1 reggae chart-topping John Legend cover “All of Me” (which received over 5 million YouTube views), “Rasta” (currently #1 on Clinton Lindsay’s NY reggae singles chart), “That Girl” and “Life We Live” as well as brand new singles including “No Friend of Mine” “Made In California,” “I Surrender” and many more.
Jah Cure’s multi-faceted story of struggle and love is intertwined into “The Cure.”
“My struggles made me who I am today. That’s why I sing with feelings, it comes from my heart cause I feel the pain. Who feels it knows it,” he states.
Cure did not have the typical road to stardom. The Montego Bay native just began his musical career, with reggae veterans like Capleton, Sizzla and Beres Hammond taking him under his wing, when it came to a screeching halt after a controversial case that led to incarceration.
However, Cure’s popularity rose to new heights during this time, becoming one of the fastest rising reggae stars worldwide. He was able to secure professional recording equipment and released multiple albums (Free Jah Cure, Ghetto Life and Freedom Blues) for worldwide distribution before his release in 2007.
Since then, Cure has continued to top the reggae charts with hits and has released several albums “True Reflections,” “The Universal Cure” and “World Cry.” His latter album featured collaborations with Rick Ross and Jazmine Sullivan, blending hip-hop, pop and R&B into his sound.
On his upcoming album “The Cure,” fans can also hear this multi-genre influence while he stays true to his roots. His evolved sound creates a well-rounded album that will resonate with roots reggae listeners and R&B lovers alike.
